How to Enter the Bath Area

There are various manners to observe when using a public bath. Recently, even among Japanese people, some are unaware of these traditional customs, which can cause inconvenience to other guests.   1. Do not bring items, such as mobile devices or books, into the bathing area.
  2. Before entering the bathtub, use the shower or hot water from the bathtub to rinse off any dirt from your body.
  3. Do not bring soap or shampoo into the bathtub.
  4. Tie up long hair to prevent it from getting in the water.
  5. Do not soak your towel in the bath. Place the towel to the side or on your head.
  6. Keep noise to a minimum to maintain a relaxing atmosphere for everyone.
  7. Respect personal space.
